As your MP, ensuring a safer community across Beaconsfield, Marlow and the South Bucks villages is a top priority for me.
I have been alerted by Thames Valley Police to a series of recent burglaries across our area.
These burglaries share similar characteristics:
- The thieves use ladders, garden furniture or drainpipes to climb on top of flat roofs and enter through bedroom windows.
- They mainly target jewellery, but any valuables are at risk.
The police investigate every burglary and are working hard to catch the criminals. We can all play our part too with some prevention steps and reporting anything suspicious we see.
Thames Valley Police have advised on the following simple steps you can take to protect your home and belongings:
- Store and lock your ladders away when not in use. Don't leave them out and propped against your wall - that's an invitation for burglars.
- Lock your garden tools away or keep them inside. Don't leave them in plain view - burglars often use what they find at the property to break in.
- Secure your shed with a good quality padlock and consider installing a security alarm. Don't let your shed become an easy target for thieves.
Together, we can make our community safer and more secure. If you see anything suspicious, please report it to the police immediately.
