My opposition to the Marlow Film Studios is well known and longstanding. With the Council’s Strategic Sites Committee due to consider the application again in the New Year, we are now entering a vital phase in our campaign to stop this development.
I first objected to the proposals in July 2022 on the grounds of loss of Green Belt, traffic impacts and risks to air quality. I submitted a further objection in October 2023 and my objections were presented to the Strategic Sites Committee at its meeting that month. Throughout I have worked closely with local residents and the Save Marlow's Greenbelt Group to oppose the development, raise awareness and encourage representations.
With my opposition well known, the Film Studio applicants asked to meet with me earlier this year to put their case. I listened to them carefully - but it did not change my mind. I was clear to them it is an inappropriate development and I left them in no doubt that my opposition was steadfast.
Planning officers have recommended refusal - setting out the ‘very substantial and visual harm’ to the Green Belt. I strongly agree with them. National Highways also set out significant traffic concerns. That is why I urge Strategic Sites Committee to finally reject this application in the New Year. Given the overwhelming case for refusal, It is not right that this inappropriate development continues to create planning blight on local people.
I encourage residents to keep submitting representations to the Council’s Planning Portal (Wycombe area) ref 22/06443/FULEA at: https://publicaccess.wycombe.gov.uk/idoxpa-web/
I will continue to work hard to protect the Green Belt across Beaconsfield, Marlow and the South Bucks villages. These green spaces are the very reason many of us have chosen to call this place our home. Once they are lost, we can never get them back.
