Today marks the long-awaited opening of the Beaconsfield Relief Road, known to some local residents as the “road to nowhere”. While the project has been long in the making, the opening today is several years ahead of previous estimates and comes in time to deliver significant benefits to Beaconsfield residents.
Joy Morrissey MP has been working since shortly after her election to try and expedite the delivery of this vital relief for the London End roundabout. Engaging primarily with Buckinghamshire Council and Inland Homes, Mrs Morrissey has been focussed on the completion of the project at the earliest opportunity and helping to ensure coordination between the various parties.
The relief road will be essential in ameliorating the effect of HS2 traffic through the town, providing an alternative route for HGVs using the A355, ensuring they have as little impact on residents as possible. Mrs Morrissey has been in regular contact with HS2 to make sure that traffic flow can be transferred to the new route as soon as it opens.
Inland Homes said: “Inland Homes is delighted to have been able to deliver this project well ahead of schedule. This has been achieved thanks to the constructive efforts of all involved, including Buckinghamshire Council and local MP Joy Morrissey, with all parties recognising the benefits the new road will deliver.”
I am thrilled that the Beaconsfield Relief Road has been officially opened today. For me, it has been essential to work with Buckinghamshire Council and Inland Homes to deliver this much needed relief to my constituents, ahead of schedule.
