I have been steadfast in my opposition to the Marlow Film Studios from the outset. It is a highly inappropriate development with a weak and worsening economic case, that will destroy Green Belt land and bring traffic chaos to Marlow. I have objected on 3 separate occasions in July 2022, October 2023 and April 2024.
I am pleased that in yesterday’s Marlow Parish Poll so many residents took part. For over 2000 residents to vote in such a small 5 hour voting window, with no postal votes available, shows this is an important issue for the local community. 85% of those residents voting to say they do not want the development to go ahead is a decisive message. It is now important individual residents lodge their views directly to the Council planning team.
Residents can lodge their views at https://publicaccess.wycombe.gov.uk/idoxpa-web/. The application reference is 22/06443/FULEA.
Alongside the views of residents from this decisive Parish Poll and hundreds of objections already lodged - Buckinghamshire Highways have again recommended refusal and Natural England have also objected. I ask the Strategic Sites Committee to listen to the decisive views of residents and its own statutory consultees. The Green Belt protections we have in place are a vital part of our planning system. The proposed Marlow Film Studios falls well short of the high bar tests required to relinquish Green Belt land. This inappropriate development needs to be rejected, once and for all.
