This week I spoke in support of the Nationality and Borders Bill, which will further strengthen our border controls, increase the punishment for people smugglers, make it a criminal offence to knowingly enter the UK without permission, and make it easier to swiftly remove those who enter the UK illegally.
Government will also set out the circumstances in which temporary leave to remain should be granted to confirmed victims of modern slavery and clarify the decision making thresholds for potential and confirmed victims.
This Bill will create a fair but firm system of border controls for the UK.
