I voted today to protect vulnerable pensioners this winter by supporting a motion to keep the Winter Fuel Payment in place for 10 million pensioners. The motion was however defeated as Labour MPs voted to remove it.
Labour have made choices. They chose to blow £8bn on an energy company that won’t generate energy. They chose to splash £11.6bn on overseas climate aid. They rolled over to their union paymasters with billions in above inflation pay rises. They gave train drivers not just a pay rise, but a backdated pay rise for 2 years with absolutely nothing in return.
Labour expect people to believe there would be a run on the pound if they didn’t take £1.4bn of vital support away from pensioners. There is no economic case, there is no moral case for this attack on vulnerable pensioners. It is a performative and dangerous nonsense which will put lives in Beaconsfield, Marlow and the South Bucks villages at risk this winter.
