📚 Young people in Burnham deserve the best education possible, and as your MP, I will fight to deliver that.
I have written to the Education Secretary asking to meet and discuss a secondary school for Burnham.

Dear Education Secretary,
Re: Burnham Secondary School
I hope this letter finds you well.
5 August 2024
I am writing to request a meeting with you to discuss an urgent matter affecting my constituents in Burnham.
I have been campaigning for a secondary school in Burnham since I was first elected in 2019. Since then, I have worked with my neighbouring MP, Tan Dhesi, local Councillors, community groups, parents and other residents to find a solution to the growing need for a secondary school in the area.
I am deeply concerned about the significant impact that the current lack of provision is having on young people and their families. This situation forces many students to travel considerable distances to attend school, which affects their wellbeing.
Over recent months, there has been a number of concerns relating to school transport for Burnham children who are travelling to Bourne End Academy. Some parents are concerned that the financial burden of transportation, is becoming or could become untenable.
I believe that establishing a secondary school in Burnham would significantly benefit the community by providing accessible, high-quality education to local children and alleviating the financial and emotional pressures on parents.
I would be grateful if we could arrange a meeting at your earliest convenience to discuss this issue in more detail.
I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this matter with you.
Yours sincerely,
Joy Morrissey MP
