A truly inspiring visit with year 6 students at St Peters C of E Primary in Burnham.
The students wanted to talk to me about a memorial to Lord Grenville at the site of his burial at St Peter’s Church is Burnham.
The students asked for William Grenville to be properly recognised and commemorated for his pivotal role in the abolition of the international slave trade.
The children of St Peters have called for more recognition for the man who ended the slave trade.
I will be raising the issue in Parliament and was immensely touched by the passion and dedication of the students and hope that together we can help raise awareness and recognition of Lord Grenville’s momentous actions.
