Joy has been dedicated to delivering stronger protections for local waterways across Beaconsfield, Marlow, and the South Bucks villages, fulfilling a promise made during the last election. At the first opportunity, she has taken decisive action to address these critical environmental issues.
She has worked to ensure greater protections for aquatic sports from the impacts of sewage discharges. To this end, she tabled an amendment to the Water Bill to make it a criminal offense to discharge sewage in areas where rowing, sailing, and other water sports clubs operate.
Joy has also championed accountability for water company executives. She proposed an amendment to the Water Bill that would impose a criminal sanction of up to five years in prison for failing to report a sewage discharge, pushing for stronger measures to hold water bosses to account.
After years of inaction by water companies, Joy's initiatives are a call to action. She is urging the Labour Government to support these amendments to ensure real change.
